Green Drive
Green Drive is an app for Nokia smartphones that monitors the speed of the vehicle using the built-in GPS receiver of the Nokia handsets and warns user if he/she is exceeding the Speed limit.
According to the studies conducted by different Environmental agencies, it is found that at very high speeds, cars and other vehicles emit more Green House Gases than at optimal speeds. Furthermore a car moving at a steady speed has a lower impact in terms of GHG emissions.Green Drive facilitates drivers to keep a check on their speed and keep it within optimal speed ensuring lower impact on the Environment.
Advantages
- Reduces GHG emissions from your car by keeping a check on your speed.
- Redcues the probability of getting an over speeding ticket
- Reduces the probability of accident by ensuring that drivers stay under the limit
- A cool digital Speedometer for you car to impress your friends and onlookers when you stop at a signal
User Interface
- Info button displays the information about the app version and displays help related to the app usage
- LIGHT button allows to turn the backlight dim or full
- MODE button allows to switch between Speedometer or Ecospeed mode.
- In Ecospeed mode the optimal speed is shown on the big LED blob and current speed is shown next to the LIGHT button.
- In Speedometer mode the current speed is shown on the big LED blob and optimal speed is shown next to the LIGHT button
- PLUS and MINUS buttons allow to adjust the optimal speed with an increment or decrement of 5Km/hr.
Limitations
- The speed is obtained from GPS and GPS speed cannot be relied upon in Urban Areas
- When the app starts for the first time, it needs to get the first lock on GPS signal and therefore requires more time.Do not worry if the speedometer only starts working after 1 minute of launching the app
- The speedometer would sometimes show 0Km/hr when the car is actually moving. This again is due to GPS signal distortion.
